Jon McLaughlin's LOVEly lyric

I was listening to this song today and truly empathized with the message:

I'm gonna throw my love around.

Love is frequently viewed as too hard, too messy, too pointless, too temporary, too painful, too costly, and too demanding. I have seen people battle these feelings; they have since lost their belief in love. Instead, they bury their ability to love, they cling tightly to imitations so as not to gamble with the real stuff, they seek fulfillment elsewhere. It is quite a shame. I am beginning to think that only the brave will encounter love. Only those willing to risk it all will find it all. Love takes courage.

But those with that courage, throw your love around. Let the world know you possess it. Do not be afraid. Love with courage. Love courageously.

  1. This is beautiful. I have never really thought of love as something that takes courage but you're more than right. I don't know if you were even thinking of me when you said,

"I have seen people battle these feelings; they have since lost their belief in love."

but that's what I've felt like for quite some time. I read this post as a challenge. A challenge to be courageous. Thank you D.

  2. I actually was thinking of you when I wrote it. Guilty. We had some conversations about "true love" after the whole you-know-who issue. haha...I hope this challenges you, T, because it definitely there. People just have to believe enough and be brave enough. If people lose hope, then they may lose their chance.

    I love you.
